The expedition „S.E.A. – Sir Ernest’s Anniversary“, honoring the centennial of the „Endurance“ Expedition by following the way of legendary polar explorer Ernest Shackleton after the sinking of his ship in the Weddell Sea, returned safely to Port Stanley on the Falkland Islands.

Irgendwo in Malaysia. Es ist schon dunkel geworden, doch die tropischen Regengüsse wollen einfach nicht zur Ruhe kommen. Seit zwei Wochen regnet es nun schon, zum Glück habe ich in dieser Nacht Unterschlupf in einem verlassenen Haus gefunden. Der Weg zur Haustür ist zugewuchert, die Tür lässt sich aber leicht öffnen.

Zwei Jahre lang sind wir nun unterwegs mit dem Ziel das soziale Mitgefühl weltweit zu stärken. Wir wollen den Menschen die nicht reisen können zeigen, dass die Menschen anderswo gut sind, auch wenn in der Zeitung oder im Fernsehen meist nur Negatives berichtet wird.

Sand knirschte zwischen meinen Zähnen. Die trockene Wüstenluft hatte meine Lippen aufplatzen lassen. Rötlich gelber Sand wehte wie ein Schleier malerisch über den heißen Asphalt. Ich stemmte meine Fuhre gegen den Passatwind, der mir kräftig von Norden entgegen wehte.
